Limcogito Toolbox

Split PDF

Cut a PDF into smaller files by page ranges, or save every page as its own document. The file stays on your device.

Splitting by page ranges

Choose a PDF, and the tool shows its page count. Type the pages you want in the range box, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10. Every comma-separated part becomes its own PDF: the example above creates three files, one with pages 1 to 3, one with page 5 and one with pages 8 to 10.

While you type, the tool checks the input live. It tells you how many files will be created, or what is wrong, such as a range that runs backwards or a page number beyond the end of the document.

Every page as a file

Switch to the every-page mode to save each page as its own PDF. This is handy for separating scanned sheets, invoices that were scanned in one batch, or slides you want to send one by one. The results are packed into a ZIP archive named after your file, with names such as report-page-1.pdf.

Single file or ZIP

If your input produces exactly one file, for example the range 2-4, you get that PDF directly. When there is more than one result, they are bundled into a ZIP so you only download once. Pages keep their original size, orientation and images, so nothing is recompressed.

Limits and protected files

A PDF with a password cannot be opened by the browser, and the tool says so instead of failing silently. Remove the password in the program you used to create the file, then try again. Files over 100 MB are skipped. To reorder or combine the pieces afterwards, use the Merge PDF tool.

Frequently asked questions

Can I extract non-consecutive pages into one file?

A range like 1-3, 5 creates separate files. To combine the pieces, split first and then use Merge PDF in the order you want.

Are page numbers counted from 1?

Yes. The first page is 1, and the last page is the page count shown under the file name.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied, not re-rendered, so text, vector graphics and images stay exactly as they were.

Can I split a PDF that has bookmarks or links?

Yes, the pages are split normally, but bookmarks and links that point to pages in other pieces may stop working in the new files.
